The largest of all 10 stadia, Soccer City will be the venue for the very first match of the 2010 World Cup, as well as the very last; that being the World Cup Final itself! Eight matches will be played at this stadium during the 5 main stages of the tournament with the exception of the semi-finals.

Previously named Pietersburg, Polokwane is in Limpopo Province, the northern most province of South Africa. Peter Mokaba, a political activist during South Africa's apartheid era, was from Polokwane and was known for his fighting spirit as well as his inspiring leadership qualities and it is in his honour that this brand new stadium, again, part of a sporting complex, is named.

This, another brand new stadium, will be the first dedicated football stadium in the city. 8 matches will be played here, including the all important battle for 3rd place. Port Elizabeth, named after the wife of a former Acting Governor of the Cape Colony, forms part of the 'metropolitan municipality' of Nelson Mandela Bay and is the centre of South Africa's motor industry as well as being another busy port city.

Indeed, it is so well established that it is often referred to simply as Loftus. Tshwane/Pretoria is the administrative capital of South Africa and is home to many embassies.
